CBF-SEA Unites in Sympathy

and in Prayer for the People of Japan

Prayer for Earthquake And Tsunami Victims:

Most merciful and compassionate God,
Giver of Life and Love,
hear our prayers
and let our cries come unto you.

We weep with your people in Japan
We hear the cries of orphaned children and laments of bereaved parents
We feel the desperation of those searching for loved ones
We behold the silence of vanished villages.
We see the devastation.

We are overwhelmed by the enormity of it all.
Our hearts are hushed, our minds are numb.
Let not our hands be stopped, our voices dumb.
God of the universe,
Open our hearts to feel your compassion

Galvanize in us the act of continued giving
Bond us to our sisters and brothers in need
Comfort and heal the injured, the bereaved, the lost
Strengthen the aid workers and medical personnel

Bolster the resolve of governments and those with power to help
Open through this tragedy pathways to partnerships and peace
In Your Name of mercy and healing and compassion we pray,

Memories on Fr. Guido Tisera, SVD

I was so happy to see the photo that Fr. Doms posted at our CBF-SEA website – he and Guido with a happy smile!

Fr. Guido was often serious, concerned and took to heart whatever he was doing or being tasked to do. He was reliable, hardworking, friendly, a listener and a doer.  That was how I came to know Fr. Guido when we used to meet in the CBF workshops and assemblies especially during our sub-region South East Asian workshops.  He was in Indonesia then.  Later he was given a wider role and stayed at the SVD Generalate in Rome.  Every now and then, I get to receive information, news and articles from him on the biblical pastoral ministry particularly done by the SVDs everywhere.  It was a constant reminder and an encouragement to continue the work no matter how difficult it could be sometimes.

After long years of suffering, the good Lord allowed him to rest and to be with Him in His house.  Guido must be smiling so beautifully from there, looking at us, telling us to move on, and carry on the biblical pastoral ministry that he loved so much.

I want to remember Fr. Guido in that smile.  It’s a smile of joy and contentment.  I could hear him say   “I did my best.  Continue doing yours.  It is always a joy to serve the Lord!”

Rest in peace, Fr. Guido!  Pray for us!

Fr. Guido Tisera, SVD

Thank you for publishing photos of Guido and his email from Timor. I have already saved the photos as a sweet memory of my real friend.

He is a consistent person throughout his life, being focused to his job, showing a persistent struggle to recover from his illness. Guido is not only excellently competent in the Bible studies but also becomes “the Bible” itself in his personality and behaviour.

Although he was suffering of his illness, on January 30, 2010, he participated in the wedding service of my first daughter and my (second) wedding service as well on June 27, 2010. I do miss him very much. I am very proud of him.

Fr. Guido Tisera, SVD Born to Eternal Life March 3, 2011

Remembering Fr. Guido Tisera SVD
1949 – 2011

Fr. Guido Tisera, SVD, former Generalate Coordinator of the Biblical Apostolate, passed away at the SSpS Hospital , Halilulik, near the town of Atambua , Timor on March 3, 2011 . He died of cancer at the age of 62. Since he knew that he had cancer in 2007 he had bravely fought against it by undergoing a series of chemotherapy combined with alternative treatment and prayers. Despite all this, at the end of last year the cancer had spread all over his body and since January this year his health condition had rapidly deteriorated.

On Thursday March 3, 2011 at 11:30 he went back to his heavenly Father forever. His funeral will take place on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 14.00. We all pray that he may rest in peace.

United in prayers,

Lukas Jua, SVD

Just heard from our Provincial that Fr. Guido Tisera has passed away.

He has been suffering for years

especially since his right kidney was removed in Singapore.

He was CBF contact person for SVD Ende Province,

and later SVD BA Coordinator in Rome.

I heard only that he will be buried in Atambua,

his hometown in Timor.

He was very devoted to the BA,

a serious and gentle person, someone you could rely on.

[He was]  in Tanzania with us

He has finally been freed from his suffering,

and may now behold the Word of life in all his glory.

Dear Guido, rest in God’s peace!

 Praying for you,

Sr. Emma

Subject: Greetings
Dear Doms,
Thanks for your e mail. I am now at the island of Timor where I come from. I stay with my sister, taking rest and still taking medicine as well. Aside from that, I also take alternative therapy. And also I have to have diet. My health condition is good or getting better. I still have regular medical check up in Singapore. Normally I stay in Jakarta because there you have easy access to specialist and hospital. So on the 30 of May I’ll go back to Jakarta.

I still remember our last meeting of the Zone, in Baguio and the we moved to San Fernando and there we shared the same room with Oscar. On our way back to Manila, we had lunch at Urdaneta. All the best for your new job but also for your faithfullness to the Word.

Let us pray for one another. God bless,
Guido Tisera.
